Boys playing, Rod jamming

Ok, here are some random pics of the boys playing around and also a video of Rod jamming out to Nick Jr Theme songs from shows he likes on the internet...they are so funny!

Build a bear Workshop

So, for Christmas, we decided to do some stuff for the kids and spread it out over the month of December...one of the things we did was go to build a bear workshop...which I thought was a totally lame thing to do...until I saw how cute the boys were about it! Sterling picked an orange tabby cat that he has named Azzie...after the cat that ran off in California, and Rod got a monkey...he had a difficult time deciding between the T-Rex and the monkey. We got the little voice recorder thing and Sterling recorded his voice saying," Meow, meow, meow sleep tight!" and Roddy's voice in his monkey says," Eee-oo-aaaa, silly monkey!" They do this whole cute little ceremony with the kids and it was really precious how serious about it they were being! Even Robert was big cheesin'! Anywho, for some reason I didn't get many pics of it....I guess I was too busy admiring all the cuteness!?

Sterling rides his bike!

Sterling learned to ride his bike without training wheels on December 30, 2008! We have been trying to teach him to ride for a while, and he just wasn't motivated...but with this new active lifestyle we've been doing there've been many times when it would have been nice for Sterling to ride a bike...he's getting heavy to pull on the bike and heavy in the jogger (stroller)! So, we came up with this idea to bribe him! Yes, we do bribe our children! Maybe bribing isn't the best word....I'll say instead we have a bonus program in place. Anywho..we told him once he learned to ride his bike, we'd buy him some Heelies, which he's been asking for for a long time. After we told him that, he put on his helmet, went outside, found one of his friends (9 year old boy who lives across from us), and learned to ride his bike in about 10 minutes! His friend came and knocked on the door and asked me if I wanted to come outside and watch Sterling ride his bike around the circle! He was so proud of himself it was so cute! So, we promptly got ready and went to the store to go pick out his Heelies! He's so cute with his love of red...he didn't like many
of the shoes because they weren't the right color, but he finally settled on some that had red and grey. We really lucked out with the timing of his learning-since it was right after Christmas they were on sale..we paid $15 for his Heelies (yea for us!). But, since he was so picky about color (and we wanted to get one of the pairs on sale) he got some that are almost big enough for me! They're a size 5 in men...(I wear a 5 1/2) so when we came home and put on 2 pairs of socks and he tried wearing them...they just weren't comfortable, so they're just sitting in the shoe closet now, waiting for the day when Sterling rides again :D

Hanauma Bay Park

Feb 1st we went to Hanauma Bay with Sarah and the boys...we had a lot of fun..although we went a little late in the afternoon and when the sun went behind the mountain it got pretty chilly. It was beautiful snorkeling and even Robert enjoyed the underwater life...we left because Rod got buried in the sand to keep warm, but then had a hard time breathing because the sand was heavy, when he stood up he was covered in sand and I said, "Roddy, do you want to get in the water to wash the sand off?" He screamed, "NO!!! I want to go to the car, and I want to be warm!" So, we left shortly after that pitiful thing...everyone was very tired after that, but we enjoyed it and will go earlier next time!

Dentist!

January 30th was Rod's first trip to the dentist. Sterling and Rod were so good at the dentist that I was actually surprised! My kiddos are generally well behaved, but this was beyond the normal good. Rod watched Sterling go first and I think that helped him, then when he was feeling apprehensive at his turn, Sterling held his hand until he was relaxed. No cavities and the dentist said whatever I'm doing to keep it up :) Yea for me! They were very excited to pick their toys and the dentist said we wouldn't need to snip Sterling's and Rod's fraenums (the reason for the gap in front top teeth) until the permanent teeth really start to fill in. So, we've got a little while for Sterling and a long while for Rod. Also, the dentist said Sterling will need braces (big surprise!) down the road....
